Our first project, based on Busuanga Island, Philippines, is underway. As of early 2015, we have the roads, office, power stations, staff quarters, docks, boat house and dive shops completed. Our hatchery structures are built and are being outfitted with internal equipment and our first generation of sea-cucumbers are being bred.
Roberts & Rose Mariculture Corp will collect native broodstock from its 25 square kilometers of sea leases to ensure the use of native species. We will rear the two common types of sea cucumbers from the Busuanga area: sand fish (Holothuria scabra) and golden sandfish (H lessoni ps. nov.). A careful survey of our sea leases has shown us that we have a reliable supply of large, local fecund broodstock.
